Millions of XML files/day in production
High-Volume Data Platform Processing Millions of Files per Day
An event-driven AWS data platform increased production processing capacity and compressed high-volume historical onboarding from weeks to days.
- Constraint:
- The data platform was bounded by a database-bound application model that could not sustain the ingestion and processing volumes required for millions of XML files per day.
- Decision:
- Move from a database-bound ingestion model to an S3-first event-driven architecture with object storage as the ingestion boundary.
- Result:
- The production pipeline processed approximately 1M documents in 15–17 minutes, supported volumes of up to 10M XML files/day, and reduced dependency on a central database-bound model.
- Buyer lesson:
- High-volume platforms require architecture decisions about ingestion boundaries—not just throughput targets.
